Northwest Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont

Good bye East Coast, Hello National Forests and Mountains!
I fear Erica has left part of her heart in Maine.  She fell in love with the lighthouses.  We are thinking we may have to put out a look out for a Christian (good-looking, she said), young man, who owns a lighthouse with a house, on a cliff in Maine, and is willing to wait 4-5 years to date her.  (and another 5 to marry her! ha!)
As we headed in land we drove through a lot of forests.  After driving for awhile we saw a sign for a covered bridge so back into the bush we headed.  Along the way we saw a ski slope (way, way up).  The bridge was built in 1827.

We also saw signs to watch for moose crossing the roadways.
JR was really, really hoping to see one but so far no moose.

In Vermont we saw signs to Mt. Washington, the highest moutain in the northeast.  It's elevation is 6288 ft. It has some of the world's most diverse weather.  In the 40's they recorded winds of 231 mph.  They have measured snow drifts of 25 feet.  They weather can change drastically while you are up on it.  It has an autoroad where you can drive your own vehicle up or you can take a tour van up.  I thought I could make it if I took something to help with my fear of heights but the closer we got the more I wasn't so sure after all.  The tips of the mountains were up in the clouds...an incredible sight (from below!).
A sign at the bottom said if you have fear of heights this road is not for you.  It is paved all the way up but no guard rails.  I chickened out and volunteered to stay in the lodge while the two other brave Weavers conquered the mountain.  So off they went.  At around 4000+ feet they pulled over at a scenic pullover and saw the transmission was leaking fluid pretty rapidly from the car working pretty hard to get up the mountain.  They let it cool down and with great disappointment headed back down.
JR said if it would have been him and they boys they would have hiked the rest of the way up.
From the bottom I could see cars creeping up the sides of the mountain. They looked as small as lice.
It made my head feel funny just to see them.

On the top right corner you can see a little lice (car) driving along a ridge.

Tonight we are staying in Killington/Rutland, Vermont at a Best Western Inn & Suites.  We feel so blessed with our motels.  We used our coupon book that we picked up at a welcome center,  normally this room would cost $114.00 and with our coupon we got it for a little over $50.00.
It is a very deluxe room (which I love).
We feel favored by God.

Update on Dad:  My sister, Brenda, and several of her daughters drove up to Mi. today and Brenda is spending the night at the hospital with Dad so Mom can go rest at the motel.  Praise God, Dad's heart went into a regular rhythm today and is keeping a nice normal pace.  He still has congestion around his heart that needs to be worked off before he can go home.  Keep praying!
